Bonn UBF Is Still The Model For UBF
14th-Nov-2006 02:00 am
Members of some German UBFs attended a UBF conference in the Chech Republic. According to a mission report written to Chicago UBF by Peter Chang from Bonn, the Chech UBF wants to be like Bonn UBF. An excerpt from the report states, "Missionary Stephen Park shared a Bonn pioneering mission report and thanked God for his grace and blessing on Bonn ministry. Everyone also wanted to live sacrificial life like Bonn missionaries."

The UBF standard is to worship the church directors as the members of Bonn UBF worship Peter Chang. The goal is that all UBF members treat their leaders as a god.

The report was written by Dr. Peter Chang. Here is an excerpt:

"All attendants also learned that those who love Jesus should feed sheep like Jesus. Missionary Stephen Park shared a Bonn pioneering mission report and thanked God for his grace and blessing on Bonn ministry. Everyone also wanted to live sacrificial life like Bonn missionaries."

Dr. Peter Chang says, "All attendants also learned that those who love Jesus should feed sheep like Jesus." Dr. Peter Chang is quoting John 21 out of context to promote UBF business. Dr. Peter Chang has his theology all messed up here. First of all, no one can feed sheep like Jesus. No human shepherd should try to feed sheep like Jesus. No human shepherd should try to exercise his authority as if he is Jesus. Dr. Peter Chang should not feed sheep as if he is Jesus. The big problem of UBF is that a UBF shepherd is Jesus to his sheep and sheep is required to obey his shepherd like Jesus. What does Dr. Peter Chang exactly mean by "feed sheep like Jesus"? Second, John 21 is not about forcing Peter to feed sheep. It is about reinstating failed Peter to the top position. Is John 21 about how Peter should love Jesus or is it about how Jesus loved Peter? How does Dr. Peter Chang know that it should be the way anyone who loves Jesus should love Jesus? Dr. Peter Chang is dictating the way how everyone should express his love for Jesus. His attitude as a church leader is not right. He doesn't seem to know whether he is promoting his way or Jesus' way. It is clear that Dr. Peter Chang thinks that he is Jesus. Third, what does he mean by "sacrificial life"? Does it also include sacrificing one's human(?) thinking and human(?) pride to obey Dr. Peter Chang? UBF uses such phrase like "sacrificial life" sneakily to force sheep to conform to UBF theology. They force sheep to do anything for UBF in the name of "sacrificial life" like Jesus. But the problem is that "sacrificial life", "human thinking" and "human pride" are all defined by UBF leaders like Dr. Peter Chang to increase their power and authority over sheep. They are never defined based on sound theology in UBF. If anyone tries to do it, he is a Satan with humanistic ideas in UBF.

The Bonn missionaries really live a sacrificial life. They sacrifice all their time and money for the honor and moneybag of Mr. Chang.

BTW, in Germany we have a saying "Eigenlob stinkt" (self praise stinks). If this would be true, all inhabitants of Bonn would have to wear gas masks because of the thick smelly clouds pouring from the Bonn UBF center at every Sunday and every sogam session.

There are other strange things here. Chang writes that this is a first "historic" conference though UBF has been in the country for 16 years. It's leader had been Isaac Shin who was originally a UBF missionary in Stuttgart, Germany. During the reform movement in 2001, 4 Korean missionary families separated from him because of his authoritarian style or other typical problems, and Shin stayed alone. Three years ago, he died. It seems UBF wants to reestablish his ministry, using his wife and kids, and sendig some more Koreans.

The sentence "Everyone also wanted to live sacrificial life like Bonn missionaries." is the last sentence in the report. It seems to be Chang's resumee of his visit there. He is obviously trying to recommend himself in Chicago as the future Europe UBF leader.

It's also interesting that Reiner Schauwienold participated. He's the right hand man of Kaleb Hong.

The title on the first picture says "Do you love me? Feed my sheep." The typical UBF program.
