And Now, For Something Truly Scary...
7th-Aug-2008 05:12 pm

Go to http://www.pennstateubf.org and click on the story about honoring the life of "Dr." Samuel Lee.  All that's missing is the description of how he separated night from day.  All you can do is hope that the author of that little hagiography will come around and see that he's under as much influence as I was during my boozing days.

Are you talking about the one written by James Suh which is actually on the main UBF website?

I think we have prophesized this development of making Samuel Lee into a saint when he died. Remember how UBF members claimed that he was a "dead horse" that shouldn't be beaten, had not relevance, and was in fact a horrible man, but now we should up? But what they did was install a "Founders Day" where people have to write and share such hagiographies, which of course have to become more splendorous every year.

What happens in UBF is that they create their own history and own reality, without caring about the true reality and history. This of course is also something that they have copied from Samuel Lee. Actually, he started this whole process in his newsletters, where he more or less subtly praised himself and the UBF members believed all he wrote as real.

Point out Samuel Lee's horrendous abuses, and they'll tell you you're beating a dead horse. But you realize from their continued glorification of Lee that he's not a dead horse, but a sacred cow, or "golden calf", if you will. This is the stubborn idolatry of men like Suh and Schafer. Will the next generation of UBF be finally rid of this idol?
