Jun's burning business heart
8th-May-2006 08:42 pm
John Jun teaches his fellow business associates to double the number of the committed UBF members with burning shepherd heart. But considering what he has been teaching in his messages, this burning shepherd heart is nothing but burning business ambition.

“What did Jesus who had compassion on them do? “So he began teaching them many things.”(Mark 6:34b)
We have a clear prayer topic to double our ministry by 2010. We should not do this with business minds. First of all, we must double our shepherd hearts and we must learn the compassionate heart of Jesus for the campus students. For this, we must know the clear reason why they are so pitiful and pray for them earnestly. Then God will surely give us burning shepherd hearts for them. With this shepherd heart, we must teach them the word of God. With burning shepherd hearts of Jesus, ubf shepherds and missionaries must prepare the life giving word of God and give them God’s word.

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.” (Mark 6:34)

John Jun preaches that “With burning shepherd hearts of Jesus, ubf shepherds and missionaries must prepare the life giving word of God and give them God’s word.” “burning shepherd heart” is the catch phrase of UBF. The founder of UBF Samuel Lee is claimed to have the most “burning shepherd heart” for Korean students and American students. Jun says that ubf shepherds and missionaries must prepare the life giving word of God and give campus students God’s word. But if anyone looks at recent messages prepared by Jun and ubf bible teachers and the messages prepared by Samuel Lee who had life-giving and burning shepherd heart, he/she will be shocked at their business mind.

1. Samuel Lee who had “burning shepherd heart” taught campus students that Jesus did not mind violating human rights to help others spiritually (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/33324.html). So in practice he used any means necessary to convert any students to a person who was absolutely committed to his organization. Many UBF leaders who were “trained” by Samuel Lee still practice this (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/66570.html).

2. Samuel Lee who had “burning shepherd heart” taught campus students that if he didn’t bless anyone, he would experience terrible accidents or family crisis (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/37091.html). UBF leaders use the same tactic to terrorize campus students so that they would obey them absolutely.

3. Samuel Lee who had “burning shepherd heart” also taught campus students that if anyone left UBF, God would bring terrible punishment on him (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/37091.html). Considering that UBF is originated in Korea, this kind of brainwashing is not unexpected (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/70577.html). UBF leaders still teach that UBF is the only place where campus students can be saved.

4. UBF teaches that all other local churches except UBF is Satan (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/56028.html). Therefore UBF teaches that leaving UBF to move to other local churches is the work of Satan. In this way UBF is ready to condemn anyone who leaves UBF. This is a kind of extreme brainwashing. Jun also taught that all UBF members should engage in “spiritual(?)” war against all the enemies of UBF (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/46486.html). Jun was in reality teaching that anyone or any organization that is in the way of UBF is God’s enemy!

5. Jun taught that natural disaster is God’s punishment but a family crisis is for the glory of God (http://community.livejournal.com/rsqubf/70054.html). Jun puts more emphasis on the accidental conditions of God’s punishment and God’s blessing than the essential nature of God’s punishment and God’s blessing. When one considers all the previous points on UBF teachings (1, 2, 3, and 4), he/she can conclude that Jun and UBF leaders define the accidental conditions only in terms of whether one is loyal to UBF or is absolutely committed to UBF or absolutely obedient to UBF system.

In conclusion ubf bible teachers, missionaries including Jun and his fellow senior staff members does not teach the Bible to the students. They teach "UBF" to the campus students. They teach campus students how to become absolutely committed UBF members.

“Burning shepherd heart” used by Jun does not have the same meaning as used by Jesus in Mark 6:34 because Jesus never taught 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 to the poor crowd who were like sheep without a shepherd. Could anyone imagine Jesus’ teaching the poor crowd that it is ok to violate human rights to make any church member to become committed to his/her church? The “burning shepherd heart” promoted by Jun is nothing but “business mind” to recruit campus students and to make them committed absolutely to UBF.

Jun and his missionaries are not servants of God who give the word of God to campus students who are like sheep without shepherd. They are just UBF business associates who will do anything "by faith" to brainwash campus students to make them committed members who will never leave UBF.

First, when sheep do not have shepherds, they wander around. Sheep are like tender newborn infants. The shepherd must go ahead and lead them to green pastures and help them avoid poisonous grass. Shepherds have to lead them to waters when they are thirsty. In the evening, shepherds lead them to the sheep pen. But when they do not have shepherds, they go astray and are caught by wild beasts and torn to death. We are living in postmodern times. Especially, pleasure seeking and materialism rule the modern society. If one criticizes homosexuality in public, he will be in big trouble, probably even with a possibility of being arrested. Modern society is like Sodom and Gomorrah. Intellectuals follow the social consensus without thinking.

In the same message, Jun claims sheep wander around when they do not have shepherds. But if sheep have a UBF shepherd around them, they will definitely wander around. Let's say that a UBF shepherd teaches his/her sheep that to leave UBF to move to another local church is the work of Satan. Should't we say that the sheep has wandered off sound biblical teaching? Therefore if Jun is really concerned about sheep's wandering around, he should recall all UBF shepherds from all campuses in the world.

He also criticizes modern society and modern intellectuals because modern society is like Sodom and Gomorrah and intellectuals follow the social consensus without thinking. Well, Jun should consider his boss' teaching that it is ok to violate human rights to help sheep spiritually(?). He should think whether this teaching is based on sound thinking. Since this teaching is not based on sound/intelligent thinking, UBF is like Sodom and Gomorrah. But Jun follows Samuel Lee's legacy without "thinking".

In fact all intellectual reasoning process is banned in UBF. As an evidence, consider all decision-making processes in UBF. There used to be a thick white wooden beam to support the window frame of the balcony of the Chicago UBF santuary. That wooden beam was placed there without even testing the structural stability of the balcony. So a solution wihtout knowing what the problem is. If anyone raised qustion agasint the solition, he immediately became a proud rebel.

UBF also bans "human thinking". I often heard "human thinking" in UBF without anyone ever clearly explaining to me whatever "human thinking" meant. Every UBF shepherd seemed to use the phrase "human thinking" whenever sheep rased any question against his/her shepherd's direction. So in UBF there is no "thinking" and no "human thinking". UBF members are forced to follow UBF consensus without any "thinking". Jun's UBF seems to be confusing "being spiritual" with "being anti-humanism". So again UBF is like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Oh brother. Here we go again. It is very unhealthy (but typical of UBF) for a church's leaders to be so focused on the success and glorification of the organization (for their own glorification, of course). With Sam Lee, it was a new ridiculous numbers goal for the Chicago UBF Sunday "worship service" every year, every month or even every week with the stated reason that the headquarters should have the biggest number. It's inevitable that such a focus will lead to a "business mind." Just back in February, Jun compared UBF to a "supermarket"; He's already "doing this with a business mind."
