Mr. Su-gil Lee

I was always taught in UBF that Korean nurses were able to get jobs in Germany because Dr. Samuel Lee prayed for world mission with burning heart. But the following article says a quite different story:

"...Lee, who went to Germany for study in 1959, played a leading role for Korean nurses to get jobs in the European country. In 1967, he returned home after being blackmailed repeatedly by South Korea’s intelligence agency. Taken into custody, Lee was tortured with high-voltage electricity in the basement of the agency, his toes linked to the poles of a power generator. Interrogators continued to raise the generator’s output, since his left leg was not responsive to the current due to childhood paralysis. Despite 10 days of torture, the agency failed to force him to falsely confess that he was a spy..."

Mr. Su-gil Lee was behind the story. He did something much better for the Korean nurses than Dr. Samuel Lee did. But Mr. Su-gil Lee has suffered the rest of his life while Dr. Samuel Lee is still glorified for taking advantage of Mr. Su-gil Lee's sacrifice. All the UBF Korean nurses must thank Mr. Su-gil Lee for his suffering than Dr. Samuel Lee for helping them to get jobs in European countries.
