ecclesia semper reformanda

Yesterday was "reformation day" in Germany. The Luther movie that was in the cinemas some time ago was shown on TV. Unfortunately, I saw only the last half. Luther once said "ecclesia semper reformanda" which means "the church must always be reformed." How different from UBF where the wife of my chapter leader told me "you can wait for UBF reform until we all are buried." Reformation day is not a holiday, but today is the Catholic "all saints" holiday. The Catholic church celebrates it separately from "all souls" since the believe "saints" are a special class of Christians, whereas Luther and the Bible tell us that all Christians are saints, sanctified through the blood of Jesus, not through our own efforts.

You should get the DVD and see all of it. I did not see it in the movies, but I did buy it for a Christmas present for my husband last year when it came out on DVD. I must have watched it about a dozen times this past year. It is great. I have loaned it out twice. Also, our church had a special movie night this past summer where they showed the movie. Before the movie, our pastors provided more detail sbout Luther and the reformation than in the movie.

UBF leaders respond to reform as did the Pope and the Catholic church.
