A budding cult leader
1st-Nov-2005 10:11 pm
I'm posting this so the general public can be informed. Joshua Hong is a name that is being increasingly connected to complaints about UBF at the newly "pioneered" University of Chicago chapter. This is a person whose extreme behavior has reportedly caused alarm even among leaders of Chicago UBF, but now he operates with their blessing in his own (independent?) chapter. This is the budding cult leader who is held in high regard by some Chicago UBF 2ndgens, it seems. UBF continues to churn out these kinds of leaders.

That's one of the intrinsic problems of UBF. Those who are nice, humble and naive stay subordinate members all their life, and those who are authoritarian, dishonest, proud with a predilection for power, those who cannot cooperate with others and want to rule not serve ("leadership material"), they will become leaders (official speak: are sent out to "pioneer" their own chapter). Those who should never become leaders become leaders in UBF and those who should learn to become mature will be made more dependent. This system will always produce abusive leaders and others who are their victims, often without even knowing. What UBF requires from leaders is only absolute loyality to the top leadership and effectivity. Those who are most "effective" (who can manipulate people better than others) and those who are proud and talk a lot about their "success" (like in mission reports) are those who are admired the most in UBF.
