Where are they now?
20th-Dec-2005 07:56 pm
Here are some names from the time I spent in the Columbus Ohio UBF chapter - June 1982 to May 1992.

Does anyone have any idea where they are or what they're doing now?

1. Peter Chang (Chapter leader. I think he's in the Richmond Virginia area but don't know anything further.)

2. Teddy Hembekides (I know he's leading the Triton College chapter, but I don't know how long he's been there or what he did before going there.)

3. Tom Parker (His training inspired me to leave UBF for the first time in December 1985.)

4. Moses Hong (Korean name is Hoon Hong. When he came to the US in 1982, he chose the name James. He changed his name to Moses in the mid- to late 1980s. I know he left to pioneer Austria in 1990 or 1991, but I lost track of him after that.)

Any updates would be appreciated.

Thank you!

3. Tom Parker (His training inspired me to leave UBF for the first time in December 1985.) Have you tried the email address listed for Tom Parker at http://rsqubf.fortunecity.net/support.html? Hopefully it's a current email address.

I've exchanged emails with Peter Chang and yes he's in Virginia as a Pastor of a Presbyterian Church. He's completed his Ph.D. in Theology and I have a copy of his thesis if you are interested.

I exchanged an email with Tom Parker in May 2004. He said that he is "alive and well along with my wife and 3 kids. We have not really had anything to do with UBF for over a decade, nor with Columbus' Living Hope Fellowship for a few years now." That's all I've heard from him.

Living Hope Fellowship is what UBF turned into after Peter and most of the "staff shepherds" (Bill Rankin, Jerry King, et al) left. They are still on E 13th...and Jeff Baggs bought Peter Chang's old house. I just don't know if he kept the porch swing. Last time I was in Ohio, I met with Jerry King at a Cracker Barrel in Delaware. Sometimes I miss the old friends, but then I think about UBF and it's not something I would care to repeat.

You would have known me as Mario when I was in the fellowship. Might I ask who you are...please feel free to email me at mjfilichia@gmail.com or Joey@filichia.com.
