Message for second gens

Here is an attitude I see on a lot of the second gens' blogs:

"Over the past 3 yrs of being in UBF, I witnessed with my heart only growth and positive changes in the lives of believers, myself included." (from http://www.xanga.com/bbmonoz, Jan. 7, 2006)

"In terms of UBF being a cult, you need to answer the question of why God lets people meet Jesus through this ministry like I did." (from www.xanga.com/dulostheo, posted by Choi728)

"I am telling you the truth. There is no compulsion to get married!" (from www.xanga.com/dulostheo, posted by watchet_auf)

With all due respect to second gens (I have know and cared about many of you), this is what I wish you would hear:

These are incredibly arrogant statements. You assume that because abuses did not happen to you (or you didn't notice them happening to you), and you didn't hear about them from anyone else (at least from anyone you chose to believe) that they don't happen! What a narrow and selfish view. If what you say is true, then there should be no fear of hearing everyone's story right? But not everyone's story is as rosy as yours. So please, think about the possibilities of OTHER people besides yourselves being hurt, and open yourself up to hear the truth from all angles. The unexamined life is truly not worth living. Examine your church, please.

This person's not a UBF 2ndgen. Looks like he's a involved UBF recruit who also attends a Chinese church on the east coast. I think he's involved in the New York UBF. As he himself writes, he's thinking and seeing more with his heart than his head and eyes. He's caught up in the love-bombing and UBF triumphalism right now ("God has blessed us all over the world!" Yeah, right.). Hopefully he'll snap out of it like recruits of NY UBF have been doing for decades.

"I am telling you the truth. There is no compulsion to get married!"

I know of two "xanga-generation" female UBF 2ndgens who are going to Korea this month to get married to Korean UBF "shepherds." This is not exactly a new practice, sending female 2ndgens to Korea for "training," where the training includes accepting an arranged match with someone in Korea. Don't tell me there's no compulsion (pushing) involved there. Why the continued deception about "marriage by faith?"

I also know another 2nd gen who is getting married to someone from Korea soon. There seems to be more plans in the making for others.

I know a 2nd gen who joined the military to escape ubf and "marriage by faith" to a Korean who did not even speak English.

I also know an american shepherd who told his wife he was "forced" to marry her.
